Fifth Dr Appointment
Today was my fifth visit to the Dr. and everything is going well. There was not too much to the appointment, urine sample, check my weight, and listen to the baby's heartbeat via doppler. This was my last visit at my current hospital (UABW) because my Dr is moving to a different hospital. My next appointment will be at the hospital that he is moving to (BWMC). They just redecorated/renovated the labor and delivery part at the hospital that he is moving to. Kenny and I went and toured it yesterday during their open house. It is really nice and the baby can stay in the room with me as much or as little as I want.

Half Way!! YEAH!
Today I am exactly 20 weeks pregnant! Who hoo! Our baby will be here in 20 more weeks! I cannot believe how fast the first 20 weeks has gone. It seems like I just found I was pregnant.

Fourth Dr's Appointment
Today was my fourth Dr's appointment. Nothing much happened today. Marisa and Camden went with me - Cam was excited to get to see his cousin on the tv (sonogram) it was really cute. Dr. Wideman thinks that the baby might be a boy - he said that I could start buying stuff, but not to take the tags off anything just yet. He made me an appointment for Saturday October 6th to have a level 2 ultrasound when we should find out for sure if the baby is a boy or a girl. Marisa is convinced that the baby is a boy. She really wants Camden to have a male cousin to play ball with and stuff. I just want a health baby.
Also, Risa sees the same Dr, and while we were there she asked him about her Clomid and he told her to come in in a couple of weeks and get tested again (progesterone levels)so hopefully she will be expecting soon!

not very good at this
So it appears that I am not very good at this whole blogging thing. As you can see I do not post regularly, but I am going to try to do better.
Tomorrow I am going to be 14 weeks along. I have had a little mild nausea and some fatigue but nothing major, and deffinately nothing compared to what my sister went thru. She was sick from daylight to dark and it never let up until her son was born. So, I feel really lucky in that regard.
I am really curious to know if this little one is a boy or a girl. I won't find out for another 4 weeks (if the baby participates at that time). Not that it really matters, I am just anxious to know. I can already feel her or him in there moving around, and I get hung up all the time on what to call the baby.

second Dr 's appointment
Today was my second Dr's Appointment. I am 9 weeks and 4 days along. The baby's heart rate is 180 bpm, and the Dr says that is should go down by the next appointment. It was amazing to be able to hear the baby's heartbeat! The baby appears to be healthy! The baby measures to be 9 weeks and 1 day old. Because of that the Dr has decided to keep Feb 22, 2007 as our due date :) Which is a Thursday.
So far, I haven't been sick at all. I have been really REALLY tired though. Sometimes I feel weird, not like myself - foggy, kind of like I have been taking cold medicine or something (I haven't). Almost every day this past week I have gotten up and gone to work (from 6:30am - 2:30pm only 8 hours) come home taken a nap until 7 or 8 gotten up long enough to eat then gone back to bed until time to get up and get ready for work the next morning. It is ridiculous - I cannot get anything done.
I have already started trying to get a room ready for the baby. Since I moved in, I really have only used the room for storage, so the baby's room needs to be cleaned out. Once we find out whether we are having a girl or boy I guess I will decide how to paint the room, and I want it to be cleaned out by time to paint, which should be at about 16-20 weeks or so or in 7-11 weeks.
This appointment was very brief and only lasted about 15 minutes or so including an ultrasound.

first Dr's appointment

My first Dr's Appointment was on 6/27/06 a Tuesday. Well, they confirmed it, I am expecting! There is some confusion as to how pregnant I am though. Based on my calculations, we concieved on June 1st, and they baby should be here February 22, 2007. The first day of my LMP was May 17th, but it was very light that day - it really got going on the 19th, either way, the baby was concieved on June 1st. So, at the Dr's appointment, I should have been 27 days pregnant or 5 weeks and 5 days. He did an ultrasound and was able to locate a yolk sack and a fetal pole, but did not detect a heartbeat. I am a little upset by this, but the Dr said not to worry, that he thinks that I may not be as pregnant as I think I am - which confuses me since I am not guessing and have been keeping up with everything. He said to come back in 4 weeks - that we would just watch it, and see where we are at then.
I like my Dr alot - he was joking during the ultrasound, he said that I was about 15 minutes pregnant. He said that around 18 weeks we would be able to know if we are having a girl or a boy. He also said that there is a possibility of fraternal twins, and that it is too early to tell about the possibility of identical. He should be able to tell more at the next appointment.
Kenny went with me to the Dr and got to be in the room with me when they did the ultrasound! He told me to get the book What to Expect when you're Expecting (my sister had already given it to me). It is so nice to have a sister that has already had a baby (he is 2 now). He told me to take pre-natal vitamins which my sister had already told me. Other than that there wasn't much to the appointment.

the best news!
Today, on 6-17-2006, we found out that we are going to have a baby. I am so excited! We have only been trying since April, and I though it would have taken alot longer, but I was pleasantly surprised. Some people think that we sould have spent more time together as newlyweds before beginning a family, but Kenny and I talked about it and we both wanted to start trying. He is 31 and I am 30, so I think that we are deffinately old enough, and even though we only got married in April, we have known each other for 13 years, and we have been living together for over a year. I once heard that if people waited until they were ready to have kids, they would wait forever, because you can never be truly ready.
The 16th was a Friday, and I was cold and tired that day, I knew that something was different with my body and I started to think that I might be pregnant. Saturday morning I went to Walmart to get a few things, and a pregnancy test. The test said that it could be used at any time of day, but that the hormone that it detected was more potent in first morning urine. Well I couldn't wait so I went ahead and tested myself. I got a really faint positive result!!!
So, I told my husband first, then my sister, her husband, and her son- my nephew Camden, Then my parents. The next day was Father's Day, I wish now that I hadn't been so excited and had surprised my husband with a father's day card, or gift or something. So since I wasn't able to surprise him that way, when we went to eat Father's Day dinner with his family, I gave his Dad a card that told him that he was going to be a grandfather again (Kenny has 2 nephews already). So we found out the news on June 17th, a Saturday. I called the Dr. first thing Monday morning, I thought I was going to go to the Dr that day, I was wrong, They made me an appointment for 6/27/2006 Tuesday - a week and a day later!

my honeymoon

We left April 2nd for Amsterdam, Holland, and arrived in on April 4th due to time changes, layovers and flight time. My friend Jeroen picked us up from the airport - Amsterdam International which was huge! Jeroen lives in Haarlem which is a city about 20 minutes outside of Amsterdam. We stayed in his apartment while we were in Holland. He and his beautiful girlfriend Ana were very gracious to let us.
We quickly found that everything is smaller in Holland, the cars, the stores, the apartments, even the toilet paper. The architecture there is amazing, some homes were built over 400 years ago and people still live in them! I took the photo to the right in Zwalla a small town in northern Holland. This is the beginning of a huge wall that they built around the city for protection. The wall was about 25 ft high and 10 foot thick and made of brick. Zwalla is the town where Jeroens parents live whom we visited one of the weekends while we were there.
In Amsterdam, the city was built on water (or water saturated soil) because this over time the foundations of the buildings have shifted and alot of the buildings especially on the canals lean. You really cannot capture the experience of seeing this in photos (trust me I tried), but it was amazing. Sometimes it was hard to believe that the windows had not broken (maybe they had and had been replaced) because of they way that they were stretched. There is so much history in this country.

The photo the the left is a controversially phallic World War II monument titled The National Monument op de Dam (National Memorial) and is located in the main square (Dam Square) in Amsterdam. This is a couple of blocks from Central Station (the train station).
It is a monument that was erected in 1956 to memoralize Dutch soldiers and members of the resistance who died in World War II.
The monument stores soil from all of Holland’s provinces as well as from the Dutch East Indies and if you go to the back of the obelisk tower, you’ll find the provinces’ crests.
Also at Dam Square are the Royal Palace and opposite of it is the famous hotel Krasnapolsky, which you can see a tiny bit of in the photo (on the left) Madame Tussauds wax museum and Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) which was originally built about 1400 and is where Dutch monarchs and other members of the Royal Family have been officially inaugurated since 1815.

Well, It has been a while since I have posted. We went to Holland for 2 weeks for our honeymoon. I had a blast!! I took tons of pictures, Kenny laughed at me because I even took pictures of the food. On of my favorite things that I tried was a sautee chicken with peanut butter sauce, It tastes so much better that it sounds!
I don't have much time right now, but I don't want to forget any of this so i am going to make a list now and try to post about some of it later.

a little about me
Well, I thought I would start off with a little information about myself. I'm 29 years old, I'll be 30 in May. I'm getting married April 1st, 2006. I'm marrying my high school sweetheart. We have been engaged since August, and dating since March (this time). We dated for 3 1/2 years when I was 17-21. He is a year older than me and grew up in the same community. When we broke-up back then, I was heart broken. I realize now that it was all for the best. He gave me a gift, he gave me time, the time to find out who I am and what I really wanted. I never stopped loving him, no one can ever forget their first love. Now that we have found our way back to each I'm happy. We were meant to be together. I have a BS in Psychology with a minor in CJ. I have a younger sister who is married and already a mom. My mother and father are still married after 33 years. My family is pretty close. My sister married a boy from our hometown that we have known most of our lives. They have a 2 year old little boy. He is precious and precocious, and a very loved little boy.
